AUSTIN, TX – Texas Railroad Commissioner Barry Smitherman will be featured in The Texas Tribune’s next series of conversations with prominent elected officials and newsmakers on the morning of Thursday, December 13 at The Austin Club. Evan Smith, The Texas Tribune CEO and Editor-In-Chief, will serve as the moderator of the in-depth discussion.

Appointed to the Railroad Commission of Texas in July 2011, Smitherman has been the chairman since February 2012. He currently serves as Texas’ representative on both the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission and the Southern States Energy Board, and as Vice Chair of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ Gas Committee and on the Coastal Land Advisory Board.

Coffee will be served before the conversation begins, and a question-and-answer session will follow.
