Position is located in Austin, TX.

The Estimator will provide cost estimates for self-perform bid work, and negotiated projects as directed by the Director of Preconstruction. The Estimator will use their own experience, as well as company-wide experience to quantify and price material, vendor/subcontractor, and equipment pricing for budgeting, as well as bid projects. He/she will also solicit material and subcontractor pricing as required for work being bid.


· Solid educational background in construction management and/or construction engineering.

· An associate’s or bachelor’s degree from a recognized junior college or university is a primary criterion.

· Prior estimating experience is a plus.

· Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, as well as be comfortable with numbers.

· Solid prioritizing and organizational skills, including attention to detail.


· Work with company staff, architects, and engineers to quantify material for bid projects.

· Estimate cost of company owned and rental equipment required for the work.

· Work with operations personnel as required to ascertain project schedules for bidding purposes.

· Assist with change order requests as required.

· Estimate total cost of project prior to final review by upper management personnel.

· Utilize company owned estimating software, i.e. On Screen Takeoff, etc. to develop reliable estimating quantities.

· Write initial project proposals for review by others.

· Read and understand project plans, specifications, and other documents in order to discuss them with other company personnel, as well as clients, etc.

· Reports to the Director of Preconstruction.

· Some local travel may be required at times.

Skills and Specifications

· Must have strong analytical and mathematical skills.

· Must be detail oriented.

· Must be proficient with reading and understanding blueprints, specifications, and other bidding documents.

· Must have good oral and written communication skills, and have strong interpersonal qualities.

· Be able to work in a team environment, but follow and adher to company-wide, as well as specific estimating policies, procedures, and direction given by the Director of Preconstruction.

· Must be proficient in Word/Excel, and be capable of learning additional computer applications as required.

· Must be comfortable in handling confidential company estimating data.
