What happens when you take a transplanted New York farmboy and put him in charge of a Texas roadside cafe? On an early spring morning in 1995, that question was answered when The Monument Cafe opened its doors for the first time in Georgetown, Texas, and Rusty Winkstern began cooking for a few eager guests ready to sample the town's newest eating place. It was like the whole town suddenly showed up. Folks just couldn't get enough. And its been that way pretty much ever since. Each morning the doors open to the early birds ready for coffee, sour cream coffee cake, or huevos rancheros made with , free-range eggs. By each end of the day, we've served hundreds of meals.
