The Hotel San Jose is looking for seasonal bartenders to work part-time in our Lounge. This position is how all bartenders start at the Hotel. Once you pick up shifts on a regular basis you become more of a team player. We are hoping to hire soon, in time for events at the end of February. Job Description Summary

A Bartender will exceed the expectations of all guests in a multitude of tasks that include, but are not limited to, mixing and serving drinks to patrons (directly or through wait staff), waiting on Bar patrons and serving them items from the bar menu, creating bar menu items, and all food preparation associated with Bar service.

This position is a very visible position. The person having this position must comply with the property's dress code, possess good communication skills, and have the ability to resolve conflict and posses a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse employees are expected to greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Furthermore, Bartenders must develop and maintain the company's culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners. A Bartender must promote the Bunkhouse Vision and Core Values in all actions and decisions and is accountable to the overall team.

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities

* Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction

* Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and adhere to dress code policies

* Ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary

* Collect money for all orders taken

* Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol

* Balance cash receipts

* Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons

* Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment

* Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons

* Serve all Bar patrons

* Clean bars, work areas, and tables

* Mix ingredients such as alcohol, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks

* Serve snacks or food items to customers as requested

* Order or requisition liquors and supplies

* Ask customers who become loud and unruly to leave

* Slice and pit fruit for snacks and garnishing drinks

* Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays

* Help plan, organize, and control the operations of the Cocktail Lounge or Bar

* Help plan bar menus

* Prepare food upon guest request or submit order to Kitchen

* Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management at all times via email, log books, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the hotel are met

* Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area

* Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition

* Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property

* Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements

* Attend relevant meetings
