General Description
The Assistant Manager is an integral part of team responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of The Rebekah Baines Johnson Center (RBJ). The mission of RBJ is to provide the foundations of a holistic community where seniors will be able to “age in place”. RBJ works with other community organizations to provide social and recreational services; however, the primary mission is to provide safe and decent affordable housing.
The Rebekah Baines Johnson Center (RBJ) is a 250 unit apartment complex for low-income seniors and people with disabilities in Austin Texas. 100 of the 200 units at RBJ are section 8.
In addition to the specific duties outlined below, the Assistant Manager is expected to display initiative, dependability, flexibility, a high quality of work and good communication skills with both residents and fellow staff members.
RBJ is currently engaged in building 250 additional units.

Qualifications
The desired candidate will be dedicated to low income housing for seniors and will have a track record of being able to display patience while multi-tasking. High School Diploma required Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Experience in the same or related field a plus.

Salary

Commiserate with experience

Hours
Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30.

Specific Duties

Answer telephone, greet walk-ins and provide leasing information, applications, etc.
Work with administrator to process qualified applications including previous landlord, back ground checks and any other verification as deemed necessary to complete the qualifying process.
Maintain accurate and up to date waiting list on FHA software
Maintain resident files and tenant recertification paperwork in accordance with HUD standards
Receive and dispatch calls for maintenance repairs
Work with manager to schedule move ins and move outs
Assist manager with rent roll and data entry on FHA software
Maintain resident files in accordance with HUD requirements
Make copies/ run faxes for residents
Update resident rosters for staff and residents
Sort and distribute mail
Maintain organized office and community files

General Duties


Attend trainings
Contribute to a positive working environment by seeking to resolve conflicts, creating a sense of community with residents and helping the Administrator with team building.
