MOHS Histotechnician

SUMMARY:
The candidate will work under the direction of the Mohs Surgeon. Performs a wide variety of technical activites necessary in the setup and processing of tissue samples. Responsible for assisting the physician in the care of patients to assure optimal medical care. Responsible for performing laboratory procedures and maintaining the laboratory. This is a full-time position.
Freezing tissue and cutting frozen sections with a microtome
Staining and placing tissue on slides
Labeling and storage of slides
Use and handling of all materials and reagents
Maintenance and review of all equipment and materials in the lab
Maintaining and updating OSHA and CLIA records
Recording daily temperatures of lab equipment
Ensuring a safe environment in the lab according to OSHA
Maintaining quality control logs for slide review
Maintaining log for patient identification system
Performs related work as required
Must work well in a group setting
Must be reliable, have attention to detail, and excellent communication skills

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:
High School graduate required. Further training in histology is recommended but not necessary. HT or HTL certification is preferred but not required. Opportunity to work in histology lab if candidate has Associates Degree
Minimum Experience: Two or more years of directly related experience in a Mohs surgical lab
