Job Description We are seeking a Pre-K/Pre-school Assistant Teacher to join our organization! This individual will plan and present age appropriate activities for children. Responsibilities: Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth Create a fun and safe learning environment Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents Communicate with parents on students' growth and progress Maintain the health and safety of all students Qualifications: Previous experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields Passionate about working with children Ability to build rapport with children Positive and patient demeanor Excellent written and verbal communication skills Primary Duties Actively supervise students in all aspects of the day, including lesson delivery, active play, recess, lunch and special activities. Facilitate all lessons and learning activities, including documentation of progress and assessments; assisting the lead teacher in all areas of the curriculum. Guide children in the development of effective social skills according to the Abacus School philosophy. Help the lead teacher to provide age appropriate lessons, experiences and activities while being aware of the individual needs and concerns of each child. Secondary Duties Keep daily records, including attendance, lesson plans and progress reports. Be familiar with all state and local policies regarding child development and center operations. Maintain the classroom and assigned resources in a high state of cleanliness and availability. Attend regular staff and planning meetings. Attend at least 24 hours of continuing education per year. Work Experience Experience with children at the pre-school level. Volunteer experience is valid.
