Niki and Justin want to bring the Montessori approach to Buda, TX. The Montessori approach views the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child-physical, social, emotional, cognitive. (American Montessori Society) They will also incorporate Permaculture, with a "Texas twist, into the practices and environment of Ladybird Montessori. Permaculture is an ecological design system for sustainability in all aspects of human endeavor. It teaches us how to grow our own food, restore diminished landscapes and ecosystems, catch rainwater, build communities and much more. (Permaculture Institute) They plan to use the extra acreage surrounding the school to incorporate gardens, a chicken coop, and a rain water collection system to help teach the students at Ladybird Montessori about Permaculture in Central Texas.
