At Carpe Diem, we help children learn how to learn. Our curriculum emerges from the child's interest and through experiential learning. Our beautiful new Carpe Diem campus in Cedar Park is currently seeking talented, passionate Teachers and Assistant Teachers to join our team to work with the following age groups: Infants (6 weeks to 12 months), Toddler (12 months to 30 months), Preschool (30 months to 3 years old) and PreK (4 - 5 years old). Dispositions: An enthusiastic collaborator and team player who is dependable, friendly, curious, inquisitive, enthusiastic, organized, creative, delights in children, desires and pursues personal growth, friendly, acts to upgrade own professional knowledge and skills, exercises patience, common sense, and good humor to thrive within the pressures, competing priorities and demands of classroom leadership. Skills: Ability to build relationships with families and team members to create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens; leadership; knowledge of child development;; knowledge of or desire to learn positive guidance strategies; creativity; strong written and oral communication; teaching; ability to attractively display children's work; strong active listening skills; problem solving and stress management skills; aware of and able to communicate the value of play for cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and overall personal success. Job responsibilities include: Using developmentally appropriate teaching practices and in line with the policies and procedures of Carpe Diem, lead care, instruction and projects in the classroom. Make children's learning visible to the school community and to the children themselves through documentation panels. Provide communication and conduct parent conferences to make parents aware of individual care issues relating to their child, to inform them of key relationships, learning interests, projects and growth and to celebrate children's work (physical, social, practical, emotional, spiritual and cognitive). Work collaboratively with all staff and parents in the school to strive to provide our children with a beautiful childhood and optimal development. Gear the program to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, special talents, limitations, and individual style and pace of learning. Learn and utilize positive guidance techniques. Ensure that the classroom and outdoor learning environments are well resourced, clean and well organized. Comply with all licensing requirements and school safety and security procedures. Help children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group. Attend all staff meetings and special events as required. Participate in recommended and required training and other aspects of professional development, such as membership and participation in professional early childhood education organizations. Job requirements include: Degree in early childhood education or similar. Experience working in a licensed childcare center. Highly professional and dependable.
