The Regional Chief Academic Officer is responsible for the overall quality of academic programming, vision-setting, planning, and implementation, and maintains a laser-focus on continually increasing the percent of students achieving growth and mastery of academic content. The Regional CAO will drive academic excellence across the region by setting the bar of excellence and defining anA' academic vision to operationalize the Academic Strategies Pyramid at all schools. They pursue this work through excellent leadership of the centralized teams and collaboration cross-organizationally with other leaders. The Regional CAO reports to the Superintendent and also serves as an integral member of the Austin senior leadership team which is responsible for setting the overall direction and strategy for all Austin programming. This is an ideal opportunity for a dynamic and visionary organizational leader with significant pedagogical and people management experience to play a critical role in expanding and shaping a premier K-12 charter management organization committed to supporting students to graduate college and succeed in school and life. 2-3 years of experience as a principal in a high performing school serving a similar student population3-5 years of experience with curriculum design and leadershipAn understanding of special education programming and instructionAn understanding of the specific and unique characteristics of public charter schools, familiarity with Texas assessments preferredA proven track record of success managing high-performing senior leaders to achieve ambitious goals; previous experience supporting the full array of responsibilities and challenges faced by school principals preferred but not requiredOutstanding leadership and management skills, particularly as it relates to building teams, working through others, promoting collaboration, managing conflict, goal setting, and holding people accountableAn entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated success in building a program, department or organizationThe flexibility needed to accommodate the breadth and depth of responsibilities and prioritiesOutstanding written, speaking, and organizational skillsAbility to interact with a broad range of stakeholders with different interests and needsDeep commitment to improving the lives of students from low-income communities; knowledge of and experience working with low-income communities preferredDemonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of the organization.High proficiency in Microsoft suite of tools, Google Drive, and student achievement data systems such as Illuminate or Tableau
