NetSpend is looking for an outstanding individual to fill a Back Office Software Development Engineer in Test (SDeT) position. Internal Operations (part of Internal-Systems/Back-Office) is a customer-focused team of business, data, and technical experts managing the Master Data Management (MDM), Financial Settlement, and Data-Warehouse environments for NetSpend, one of the leading prepaid card providers in United States. NetSpend is looking for an outstanding individual to fill a key Back Office Software Development Engineer in Test (SDeT) position. This individual will provide testing support in all aspects of development- and support-associated activities around integration, extension, and customization of the existing implementation of the MDM system using EBX (by Orchestra Networks). Automation skills are required -- were looking for someone who has a serious aversion to manual testing and would always be looking for ways to automate inefficiencies. Ideal candidates must have extensive experience translating business requirements into effective test cases, test planning, test automation, and test execution. This person will be responsible for testing and related duties on a small, dedicated team operating within a Unix environment with Oracle-based applications. Candidates should possess solid working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within quality assurance and provide subject matter expertise and guidance to other team members. The position will also document and track software defects identified through testing and work with developers and support engineers to resolve outstanding issues. This is a 7-member, Agile team that takes care of development and production support for various packaged & COTS applications. It supports financial transfers between external partners as well as ensuring that these transfers are recognized in our Netspend accounting system. Along with regular production support, the team is focused on enhancing the platform's scalability and availability, striving to anticipate growth and improve all levels of service. Responsibilities: Work well as a collaborative team memberDevelop and document test plans, test cases, SQL scripts, and automation scripts based on user requirements, condition data (as required); primarily responsible for working with large volume of data validations using complex SQL scriptsDevelop, document, and execute automation (where applicable) and implement regression, functional, and integration tests across various data-centric enterprise applicationsDocument and track software failures using Jira issue trackerWork collaboratively with developers and QA team members to resolve outstanding defectsParticipate in after-hours and off-peak outage windows to provide certification and testing supportSupport ongoing work to automate and document QA regression testing; and contribute towards continuous improvements Skills/Education/Experience: BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred (or equivalent work experience)5+ years of overall experience as an SDeTStrong automation skills are requiredKnowledge of Groovy is a plus2+ years of experience as a QA engineer with primary focus on J2EE and Unix/Linux development environmentsStrong, up-to-date knowledge of QA processes as well as scripting, test automation creation, regression tools and backend DB testing with large volume of data processingTesting experience on data-warehouse and/or ETL-centric applications is preferredAbility to verify and test Oracle PL/SQL, including writing queries to view resultsTesting experience on RESTful or SOAP web servicesExperience writing GUI test automation tests (we use Selenium WebDriver) with actual scripting/programming competency (not just record and playback)Experience with browser testing and understanding of web-related technologies: HTML, CSS, DOMBrowser developer tools/consoles to diagnose problemsJavaScript in the browserJavaScript-based UI toolkits (eg, ExtJS, GWT, bootstrap, JQuery, AngularJS, etc.) Experienced with modern source code control systems such as git and gitflow release management processesAbility to interact with development team to identify and resolve defectsExperience working in Agile Software Development environment is highly preferredExperience with Cloud/Hadoop related applications is a plusCucumber experience highly-desirableAs provided in NetSpend's Background Check policy, eligible candidates may be subject to drug, criminal history, and credit checks, which will be conducted and used in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal laws Not Ready to Apply?
