Job Description
Job Title: Housing Advocate
Reports To: Landlord Tenant Team Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Austin Tenants’ Council seeks a full-time, Housing Advocate for our Landlord/Tenant program. Duties include intake, telephone counseling, in-office counseling, casework, and mediation. Visit housing-rights.org for more information on the services Austin Tenants’ Council provides.

Qualified applicants should:
Possess community outreach, case management, and counseling skills, as well as relevant technology and office skills
Hold a degree in a related field, or equivalent volunteer or work experience
Be mature, organized, dedicated, and professional
Possess excellent communication skills in person, by telephone, and in writing
Speak in English (Spanish a strong plus but not required)

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Have a working knowledge of housing law
Have directly relevant professional experience
Are fluent in Spanish or other high-demand languages for the population we serve
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under tight and/or changing timelines; strong time management skills to coordinate and prioritized own and others’ activities
Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Salary starts at $34,000. This is a grant-funded position.
